He immediately pulled away from the curb and down the street towards where his house was deep into the woods.
They were safe as the windows were tinted and no one could see them inside.
He couldn’t see her face or the mark on it but he could tell something was wrong.
“What happened?”
“Uh….uh, today’s been rough. I was being chased. This is what I get for not having a car or something…..r-right?” She asked and tried to wipe away her tears.
She sighed and looked at him. “I don’t want to talk about it…..please?” She asked. And then turned to look out the windshield.
He occasionally glanced back at her between the roads and stop signs before he sighed and gripped the steering wheel even tighter as he noticed the mark on her face.
He had decided to drop it as it was something she had wanted him to do.
They drove for some time in silence before he pulled up in front of a dirt road in the woods. He began to drive into the woods.
“My parents own a cottage here… its quiet and safe… I’m sure no one will find us there… and if you ever need to get away from someone you can always go here… I’ll even give you a copy of the key. Don’t hesitate to call me.” He assured.
She looked wide eyed and shocked. “R-really?” She asked him.
“You don’t have to do that” she said still sniffling and struggling to process regular conversation.
He was being so kind to her. Her eyes red and watery. She fiddled her fingers
He pulled up in front of the cottage and slipped out of his car after shutting it off.
He walked over to the other side and opened the door for her helping her out of the car.
He was sure to keep his eyes away from her tear stained face.
“Come. I’ll show you inside.” He said and ledn her to the front door and opened it, ushering her inside
She watched him pull around and help her out of the car. She followed him as he helped her in.
She looked at the inside. And was astounded by it. She kept her head down knowing he’d probably seen her face but she kept her head down, hoping he wouldn’t stare at her.
“I-I’m sorry…..” She whispered to him.
She sniffled softly.
He closed the door behind them.
The inside was a bit fancy, his parents did have a lot of Money but it was cozy.
He frowned as he walked around her but still avoided looking at her injury.
“Don’t be sorry…” he said softly. He wanted to ask what happened but refrained from it.
“We can go here to study… its quiet and we can think better out here.” He said trying to change the subject
She lifted her head some and looked at him. “I would think that’d work” she said still stuttering and sniffling.
“L-lead the way Marshmellow” she said trying to lighten the mood.
She followed him and looked up normally and sighed, “I’m still sorry I called like that. The guy was chasing me. He had gotten my wrist and he w-well slapped me. Then I ran.” She said softly. She was lying of course. But he needed something.
He looked at her as he closed the door behind them.
His eyes started to change color as he got more and more anxious.
“Did he try to do anything? Did he try robbing you?” He asked curiously as he gestured her to sit down.
He walked into the small Kitchen and began to prepare drinks.
One had slight alcohol into it. He walked back and handed it to her.
“I’m not sure if you’ve drank before but it usually calms my nerves when I’m Worked up. ” He said and then sat beside her with his drink.
“Is that how you got the bruise i saw on your shoulder the other day?”
She watched him prepare drinks as he asked her questions. “I-I still have all my stuff.
She took the glass as he handed it to her, “I’ve had alcohol before. Thank you for the drink as she sipped it.
“Though the bruise is from a fall I took on the stairs at home, it’s really silly, huh?” She asked trying to make the bruise seem normal. Although she couldn’t believe he saw it.
He looked at her oddly and then sat beside her.
He didnt think much of it but he was growing suspicious quite a bit. He didn’t pay much mind to it as he took a sip of his drink.
"We’ll… You’re safe now. If you want we could have our study meetings here instead of the library and I’ll take you home afterwards.”
"Would you be okay with that?” She asked him. Sipping her drink more.
The alcohol warm as it slipped down her throat.
As she looked at him, “I would love that honestly. Although we don’t have to go right after studying. I’m sorry if that’s a weird thing to say”
She says this and lifts her hand to her cheek and winced. “Ahhhh” she hissed
