Jackie (R1403)
The Blonde looked at her with anguish in her eyes, “You can’t be serious?!” She exclaimed
“Miraak, I think you should come back later,” Monty said. “There are some pressing issues that need to be discussed,” Rose said softly to him.
Miraak nodded without a word. Hugged Rose and kissed her. He’d already given her his number. Then quickly departed.
Jackie looked at the two after Miraak had left.
“Wh-wh-at i-is go-ing o-on?” The 20 year old blonde asked them.“It’s best that the head of the family explains,” Monty said. Rose nodded. “Our family harbors a secret,” she said as she pulled out a key and opened the closest door.
Jackie looked terrified. Looking at Monty, then following Rose to a closet door.
As Rose unlocked it the node raised a brow. “A-at Mo-Monty’s, wh-why h-hide th-things h-here?” She asked and looked at them both“We’re not hiding,” they said in unison as they led her through the door. On the other side was dimly lit and fancy room. The room was crimson with black designs. In the center was a long table surrounded by chairs. Each chair contained a different family member. On the opposite end was a man with white hair. He looked like their grandfather, but much younger. To the left of him was the mother and father. On the right was Rose’s brothers. One with crimson hair and the other with black hair.
Jackie looked stunned. Speechless and scared at the sight of familiar family. She couldn’t make a word out but stayed closer to Monty. As well as Rose.
The room felt light, though there was a serge of energy throughout it. She rubbed her bruised arm at the sight of her mother. And looked down. She couldn’t make words. The man with white hair stood up and walked over to Jackie. “Remember me? I was there with your adoptive parents the day they took you in.”
She silently nodded. Looking him over in surprise at how young he looked. The memories were faint.
She felt like her memories from childhood were lies. The adoption confused her. As they walked she tried to focus. Tried to calm herself to where she could utter at least a word. But it was pointless“Well I’m sure you remember me as your grandfather,” he said with a smile. Their father smiled at Jackie from his seat. Rose and Monty led her to a seat and sat next to her as the grandfather sat back down.
She sat in her seat glancing only briefly at her father. Then back to the white haired man. Known as her grandfather. She nodded in response to his questions.
Her hands in her lap she looked at Monty and Rose with worry.“Would you like to know what this family really is,” the grandfather asked.
She hesitantly nodded yes, as he asked her.
Her hands in her lap. Heart racing. This was sudden, from a casual evening to something so odd and formal. But she held herself steady and focused on the man talking“We are an assortment of entities, but you’d better know us as demons, and a few of us reapers. I am the horseman Conquest, the one who started this family.”
Jackie couldn’t quite process what they meant by all this. She only gave a confusing facial expression.
After a few moments she opened her mouth and attempted To speak.
“W-w-why,” she paused, “h-ow a-am I-I a-part o-of th-thi-sssssssss?” She asked and breathed a little heavier from her struggle.“You’re at the age were your body can handle the process of becoming a demon, or reaper if you so choose.”
Jackie looked wide eyed and stood up. Causing the hair to move back. “B-b-ut h-ow?! I-I’m n-n-not re-lated t-to y-you” She asked stuttering in a panic.
She looked around. “Wh-why a-ado-pttttttt….. M-m-me? Wh-what i-is s-so sp-spec-oak a-about m-me” She asked.Rose took Jackie’s hand. “It was my decision because I saw potential and strength in you,” she said softly.
Jackie looked at her. Keeping her hand holding rose’s hand she looked at Monty. “D-did y-ou kn-know a-ab-out th-” she stopped in her statement and pulled away from Rose. “N-never-mind I kn-ow y-you d-id…. W-was to-night all, a-a set-setup?” She asked. Looking at him then to Rose. Looking with wide blue eyes.
