Marshall’s eyes widened upon seeing her condition.
“What happened to you?”“Just a small argument. It’s nothing honestly.” She said and messaged her sore arm. Turning away, “why are you here?” She asked
“We need to get you out of here.”
“No. We can’t get me out of here. My dad will kill me.” She said softly and pulled away from him.
“But you’re not safe here”
Before she could say anything there was a click of the lock on her door. And she gasped trying to shove him towards the closet. She shut him inside before her father opened the door. And he walked to her, “what are you doing? Huh?” He asked coldly and grabbed her by her hair, “it doesn’t matter you’re gonna scrub my bathroom you trash” he growled and drug her and she struggled yelping in pain
Marshall’s eyes widened. He couldn’t just watch it. He had to help her.
She cried out and struggled as she was dragged along the ground of the house.
Marshall kicked open the closet door. He had it, he had seen enough. All his suspicions about the abuse that had been going on at home he was right about.
Not caring if her father knew she was there, he was going to take him out and make sure that his friend was safe. He grabbed her father’s hand and with all his might pried them out of her red hair.
“Get the fuck off of her!” He yelled as he yanked Jinx away from him. He pulled Jinx to him and looked at her with fear and anger in his eyes.
“Come on… lets get you out of here.”Jinx saw him step out of her room as she was already crying. She watched him pry her free. Taking her into his arms, she buried her face into his chest. Afraid to look.
Her red hair tangled and a mess she had crying stains on his shirt already. “I want to go home with you.” She said softly.
Her father looked at the two, “is this the boy you’ve been whoring it out with? Well enough is enough. I don’t want you to see him again” she said and grabbed her arm tightly enough to make her whimper. And he began to try to pull her away. She held Marshall’s hand as tight as she could to keep her father from pulling her away.
Marshall clenched his fists and punched her father in the jaw. Though injuring his hand. The two managed to get away.
Jinx had ran into her room and packed her stuff into a duffel bag and she gave it to Marshall before they slipped out her second story window and down the side of the house. She breathed heavily. She saw Marshall’s hand was injured as they got in the car.
Tossing her bag in the back she slid into the Passenger seat as her father came out and started to run towards the car jinx looked in fear as he neared them.Marshall’s hand was obviously bruised some and he looked in the rear view mirror. His jaw clenched once he saw her father edging nearer nearer.
His heart nearly shattered at the sight of Jinx’s eyes. He could see shear fear and her eyes. She truly feared him.Making sure they were both strapped in Marshall turned on the car and sped off. The image of her father grew smaller and smaller.
Once he was sure that her father was far away and couldn’t catch up to them, he slowed down. He sighed and relief.
“You’re never going back there again….”
She had her legs curled to her chest. As they drove she nodded towards his statement not even bothering to look back as he disappeared from view.
She wasn’t crying. She didn’t make any type of emotion. She sat in silence, stunned. Stunned so fast her body didn’t want to move. Her voice didn’t want to speak her emotions even frozen it seemed.
She watched the roads keep moving by so quickly. She blinked on occasion she was worried. She also wandered why Marshall came. Why he did all this. Why he’d get injured for her. She didn’t know why. But she’d missed him, still loved him. Even if he didn’t know
Marshall remained silent. He cared deeply for Jinx and hated seeing her this way. He even loved her just as much as he cared for her. He would never let her know that though. He was sure she didn’t return those feelings for him. That’s what he believed.
He turned the corner and started to drive down the dirt path into the woods. At least there he knew it’d be quiet and they could work things out. He had to make it up to her sometime. Especially since after the incident at the party.
He pulled up in front of the cottage and slowly parked the car. When turning off the ignition, he remained quiet and sighed.
“A-are you okay?” He asked nervously, and then turned to look at her.
She looked out almost as if past where her eyes could see. She watched the trees go past and watched them closely. She felt in a safe place but she felt off.
When he parked and spoke to her she didn’t say a word. She want sure. She was scared, still scared. She unbuckled herself and grabbed her duffel from the car. She stood in front of the car waiting for him. Her body ached her health was weak. She could feel it.
As she waited she looked at him for only a moment, then down. She felt embarrassed by her appearance thinking she looked as hideous as she felt. She could even look in the mirror.
He didn’t say much after that. He helped her with her things and aided her inside.
When she walked up she felt her exhaustion and pain overwhelm and she fell down to her knees. Falling over almost she felt sore and in pain. She whimpered.
He immediately ran to her and touched her back.
“Jinx.” His voice trailed off.She felt like falling asleep. “I’m tired.” She said softly and tried to stand up and grab her bag but she couldn’t do. She hadn’t eaten in days and she’d been worked to the bone and beaten.
Marshall helped her up.
“You’re sick…”She nodded and sighed feeling exhausted “I’m sorry…..” She said softly. Sleepily
“Get some rest. I’ll make you some soup.”
She weakly walked inside and laid down on the couch. And her stomach growled. “I haven’t had food…..” She said softly shamefully
“I’ll make you food.”
She curled up and she looked at him. “You don’t have to. You didn’t even have to do what you did today. Why? Why’d you come?” She asked.
He sighed and then looked at her with a grimace. He reached over and touched her face.
“Isn’t it obvious that i care about you?” He said, his voice almost harsh. He immediately cleared his throat and pulled away from her. His knuckles had been scraped and even started bleeding a little as the skin had been broken. He pressed his lips together as he touched her face once more and gave her a firm kiss on her head. He stood up and began to walk towards the kitchen.
“I’m going to make you something to eat… if you’ll allow me to see you naked… I’ll even help you to bathe and I’ll put you to bed. From now on you live here now… you’re never going back there. He’ll never find us here and he’ll never hurt you again.” He assured.
She was surprised at his tone and she looked wide eyed. She wanted to grab his hand and hold him to her but decided against it. “I-I didn’t think anyone cared. I thought you would leave after what I said” she said softly.
Though after he continued talk she looked down. As he’d kissed her face she looked up at him, “I-I guess it’s okay?” She asked not quite sure. She sighed, “what if he calls the cops? Or comes looking?” She asked and curled up in horror.
