He looked at her and smiled he heard that she shared his hope as well, it was hard to leave this place now, it was home, their safe spot but now their adventure here was over and it was time to go home. “Yeah thats very true, I think we all did a little growing up here and our own like skills I think have grown here too.” he said agreeing with her on the point she was making, though when she mentioned him being chief it was something he wasn’t looking forward to, when his dad was attacked and he had to fill in it was a nightmare for him, and he knew that when that time came for him to take over for his father that it would not be for fun that it would another nightmare that it would be because his father couldn’t do the job anymore and that was a day he didnt want to have come. “I hope your right.” he said simply as he looked out on the horizon with her and hoped that the day when he would be chief would be a long ways off.
She could see on his face the worry at the idea of him being chief. She couldn’t do much to help him, which was hard. They were a team after all. They’d grown so close. They’d been through a lot, from kidnappings, dragon nappings, going blind, being poisoned or even dealing with invaders. But becoming Chief wasn’t something she could do much to help Hiccup with except be there. Which was frustrating on its own.
After a moment of silence Stormfly came running up to them and nudged Astrid. Causing her to let go of hiccup, “Hey girl.” She smiled and stroked the dragon’s scales as she seemed to be almost flying with excitement. She looked at Hiccup, “Hey where’s toothless?” She asked him curious where the nightfury might be. She tried to change off the previous subject matter.
