Jack smiled softly up at her “Its alright.. It was a long time ago.. and it wasnt the dragons fault… it was wounded by trappers so I presume it saw us as the enemy and, did what was natural.. But what was natural… was to attack”
Jack looked down at his hands and then his eyes moved up to her face and he moved closer “But I want you to help me get over my fear..”
She went and helped him pick things up. Grabbing the utensils and glasses and setting them neatly on the tray with the dishes he had picked u. “Should we take these to the kitchen?” She asked him. Her eyes connected with his when she looked up.
Jack shook his head as he picked up the tray, his ice blue eyes locked onto hers as his head lifted “well… unless you wanna see the kitchen..” Jack regretted what he said the minute after he said it.
She laughed a little at his comment,“someone is a little distracted?” She asked him in response to his comment. “Let’s go put things away. Then maybe it’s time fore sleep?” She asked as she stood up straight and looked at him with a warm smile on her lips.
Jack blinket as her question snapped him back into the real world and not just her eyes.
He shook his head and chuckled “yeah! i guess you are right.” He grabbed the tray and walked towards the door “come! i’ll show you the kitchen”
She nods and follows him to through the home to the kitchen. She kept her arms swinging at her sides as they walked through the halls. “So do you cook at all?” She asked him curiously. “It seems like you might? But you Just don’t cook often” she spoke.
Jack smiled at her, carrying the tray down to the kitchen “well i do! over an open fire while out hunting, i make a mean roasted bird, and squirrle” he chuckled as he entered the stone kitchen and sat the tray down. The kitchen had a fire pit in the middle and open windows for the smoke. Also had a hatch in the roof for cooking. There were dried herbs hanging agsinst the wall. And vegies in trays and baskets.
“Well dont tell Stormfly….she loves her Chicken” she spoke as they walked in. She was stunned by the kitchen. “Wow…..this is so amazing…” she practically mumbled as she looked around. It was a well organized and well kept kitchen. She was surprised. They were not necessarily like this on Berk.
Jack laughed “well i guess i better have her try my chicken then” he teased as he turned to watch her looking around the kitchen “its an invention of our island i guess, an inside kitchen that dosnt turn filled with smoke.”
“Well she’ll enjoy it for sure. I would definitely like to try your cooking at some point.” She spoke and seemed to find herself walking around the kitchen looking at its structure. “This is really amazing hahaha” she mumbled then looked over at him her eyes connected with his and she smiled.
Jack smiled back “I could.. uh.. maybe teach you some recepies one day” Every time there eyes met this way, he could feel his heart beatimg just a tiny bit faster and his stomach felt all funny. He felt nervouse, this was all very new to him, and he wasnt sure if he should in fact do something or just stay perfectly still. He sighed to himself and started to walk over to her, just to stand closer “we… we should probably go to bed, another day of work tomorrow..”
She noticed his seeming pause as he looked at her and she gave an awkward breathy laugh. But as he walked closer her heart skipped a beat, but she tried to remain calm. Astrid however relaxed as he spoke of going to bed. “Yes that’d probably be for the best. I definitely am going to want sleep if I want to finish the additions.” She spoke and she smiled.
Jack held his arm out “well them miss, may the chife walk you to you room?”
Jack smiled softly, knowing he had lots of things to do the next day as well.
She smiles and nods with a small laugh before she took his arm wrapping her own around it. “Let ya go forth young Chief” she teased him a bit as they started to walk out of the kitchen.
Jack chuckled as he lead her out of the kitchen and back up the stairs to the hall with the rooms. He lead her down the hall stoppimg at her door “well, this is you” Jack waited for her to let go or for her to say something else.
She looked at her room door and she sighed. Letting him go. “Thank you for walking me back Jack…” she paused. Then leaned over and kissed him deeply but quickly, “Goodnight” She spoke before she then entered her room and shut the door behind her. She leaned against the door and breathed out deeply. Her heart had been racing.
Jack smiled and was moving to go back to his own room before she kissed him and stun him. He kissed her back, but before he could do or say or think anything she pulled back and moved inside her room and closed the door. Jack was left with red cheeks but also a feeling of happiness and his stomach full of butterflys. He stood there a few seconds before he walked back to his own room and closed the door. leaning agsinst his own door. He slid down to the floor and leaned his head back against the wooden surface. And he just smiled. Damn this girl was driving him nuts. But in a good way
She eventually calmed down and moved from her door. And she walked towards her bed. Stripping of the dress and top layers leaving her in only her breast bindings and her normal pants and then slid into bed. Pulling the furs onto of her the excitement at kissing him had given her jitters it was difficult to sleep for at least half an hour. Before she calmed and began to doze off.
Jack did the same. He smiled all untill he fell asleep.
The next morning he woke up pretty early, early enough that the sun was barley risen. He sat up and stretched. He decided to wash up and get ready on the days tasks before breakfast. He got dressed and walked out to go down to the shore and check on the defences and make sure every guard was up to date that there would be riders comming in in the next few days. And that they would not need to defend the island.
Then he checked on the fishermen to see if the fish count had increased or decreased. After that it was the farmers and there croos and sheep count. how many lambs that was born and how many survived. It was tideous work but it was needed.
Astrid had gotten up at her usual time and decided to go with practicing her fighting In the woods. Taking her in her pants and breast bindings and her shirt for later and her axe. She went to her now training area. Trying to take out frustrations and clear thoughts. She needed to relax with everyone coming. Astrid thought to herself.
She begun to build up quite a sweat. And she breathed heavily as she went through her target practice.
