Getting in Touch with The New Moon in Libra

lostinphases:

Today, the moon enters its new phase at 8:47pm PT at 15° of Libra. Libra is the zodiac sign most associated with balance, justice, and relationships. The moon’s movement into this phase also marks the beginning of the Hunter’s Moon period. Taking this into account with the current period of Venus (which happens to be Libra’s ruling planet) Retrograde, and you have a recipe for a powerful and potentially messy new moon.

This moon will cause you to dig deeper into your relationships as this water sign encourages us to better understand our emotions and relationships. This paired with the high passion caused by Venus Retrograde means that you will likely be dramatically inclined to look for love and affection or, on the other hand, even focus on your lack of those emotions in your life.

How to Make the Most of this Lunar Event

New moons are generally a good period for healing, cleansing, and clearing out negativity. This is when you begin new projects, pursue new ideas, and open yourself up to new relationships. So, even though all of the astrological factors above seem a bit scary, it’s all for the best.

Get Cleaning!

    • You might find that you naturally had an urge to clean today or even a few days ago as the new moon approached. Even if you don’t have the energy to fully clean up your space, now is good time to at least free yourself of minor clutter in some area of your life, physical, emotional, or digital.

 Show Affection

    • Love is a powerful emotion, and now is the time to exercise that power to strengthen yourself. Show love to others, show love to your pets, your loved ones, your deities, your friends. Above all, show love to yourself. Putting that positive love energy out into the world around you will help you enter the rest of this lunar period happier overall.

Ground Yourself

    • Whatever your personal grounding ritual is, whether you use the ever popular (and my personal favorite) tree root method, light candles, meditate, or take bath, take the time to get grounded. The new moon resets the lunar cycle, and it is the perfect time to press the reset button on your personal energy. (While you’re at it, it’s a good time to get centered, too!)

Perform or Participate in a New Moon RItual

    • There are lots of different New Moon rituals that you can get involved in and try out for yourself. An easy one is to find a quiet place (outside under the new moon is, of course, great but not required), cast a circle if that’s your thing, light a big white pillar candle, and focus on your intent for the upcoming lunar cycle. During this, you can also write down your desires and goals for this lunar cycle and burn them in the candle to send them out into the universe.

Learn!

    • One of the greatest new “projects” to embark on when there is a new moon is to learn something new. Find something new that you want to add to your craft, open up to your deity, pick up a new method of divination. All of these will lead you through this phase and into the next stronger and more motivated.

We all love the lunar phases we can see so much that it can be easy to forget how important and useful the new moon is to our lives. Take the unique power and circumstance offered by this particular new moon to put your best foot forward.
