James turns to Elsa and nods in response before focusing on the road. “New York is a very busy city. Millions of people live here and all from different parts of the world. All of different religion and speak different languages. A good place to live and where people feel if they make it here they can make it anywhere.”
Elsa sighs in relief at holding the girl. Lifting her up and pressing her head into her shirt. “Hey, it’s okay I have you….you’re okay…” she speaks soothingly. She notices her ice beginning to melt from her lack of focus. She curses in her head. She thinks for a moment the heat finally hitting her. She swirls a finger remembering her solution to saving Olaf.
A small cloud appears above them. Snow falling to chill the close proximity air. She spends a hand out carefully and ices a path out of the room and apartment. She hits the stairs and starts carefully and as quickly as possible maneuvering down. “Keep your eyes closed and hold tight…..okay? I’ve got you” she says a maternal tone seemed so natural to the tongue.
The girl does as she is told and holds on to the stranger. Unaware what she did as she feels it being cold despite looking around to see there is still flames around. She then noticed the snow and is surprised to find a cloud over them. She then wonders if this woman is an Avenger or maybe one of the Champions or maybe a Defender?
In any case they needed to get out as more flames begin emerging. Even behind where the girl was hiding at.
Elsa starts icing the ground and filling holes in the floor to quickly go down the levels. But as she’s doing so the fires are still rising and Elsa’s body is weakening from the excess power and heat and losing her focus on the floor while making sure the girl can breath. As they scale to the main first floor finally and painfully for Elsa she leans against the wall still clinging to the girl. Protecting her. She stumbles and barely dodged a falling piece of cieling. She lowers to her knees and puts the girl down realizing her focus is to get her out but she can’t hold her and herself up and focus on her powers.
She looks into the girl’s eyes. “I’m going to make a path and you’re going to walk on it okay? Follow the path I’ll be right by you” she says. She holds her hand and is able to concentrate on her Powers creating a solid path of ice. This ice much stronger more solid, like her normal level of ice. Holding the girls hand Elsa stands.
The little girl watched as the older woman appeared to be hurting. Could it be the fire was getting to her? Even the cloud didn’t seem enough to keep her safe. The flames were also getting to the girl as she couldn’t react to when she saw her use her powers to make a path.
At first she didn’t want to go, but when she reassured her she would be with her she began to walk on the ice. Following the path while holding the hand of the woman. The fire couldn’t melt the ice away which gave the two a chance to escape. Until one of the beams above the exit began to crack and it would soon fall on them.
Elsa heard the cracking and looked up to see the beam. She picked up the girl and slid on the ice to get some power. She shot pikes of ice to hold up the beam High enough and long enough to toss the girl through. She looked at the girl, “you’re going to be okay. I promise. Now close your eyes.” She says.
And uses a slide of ice to get the girl out. As the girl slips passed the beam the ice shatters and the pops of fire and the thud shakes the floor enough to cause Elsa to fall back. She coughs and tries to baracade the fire off with ice. But she’d already been struggling to breath. Struggling to concentrate. And the ice shield begins to melt as she slowly looses consciousness. Laying on the floor. Her face hot and her ice shield, the remnants of it at least, were evaporating quickly.
Just as the beam came down to crush Elsa James came in and stops the beam from crushing her. He ended up taking the full force of the beam, but he was able to handle the hit. He looks down to see Elsa is getting harmed from the flames. He picks her up bridal style and sees a nearby window, which has some flames around it.
He knew he needed to risk it and puts his jacket over Elsa to shield her from the flames. He begins running to the window and used his body to batter through the window. He continued to run as the air flew into the hole and caused an explosion. He shields Elsa and sets her down on the cold floor.
However he noticed her eyes was closed and feared the worse. He sets moves down and begins giving her CPR. Mouth to mouth, then pressed his hands on her chest, and then once more mouth to mouth.
BLACK…..all around……
“Wait” Elsa thinks as she feels something against her lips. She suddenly takes in air into her lungs eyes still closed. Her hand reached out but weakly fell to her side.
Everything suddenly flashed back to her and her eyes open and she finds James lips pressed to hers. She suddenly coughs and painfuly turns over onto her side. Some black soot she coughed up. She felt weak and things were hazy. She finished coughing and turned back onto her back. She looks up and smiles weakly up at James, “you really have to stop saving me so much” she choked. Though it was probably do to the fuzziness she was still feeling in her head.
James feels her coughing up and pulls away allowing her to get more air in her. He stayed by her side though and is glad to see she is alive. He helps her up and hugs her gently. “And you should stop making me worry about saving you,” he replied but didn’t sound angry or upset with her.
No his tone was more concerned for her safety and making sure she is okay. He breaks the hug and checks on her. “You all right?”
She’s still hazed by it all and her lungs hurt a bit when she was brought up to stabding. She looked up at James when he hugged her and wheezed a bit. “I’m alright is the little girl okay though? And I’m sorry I just know you wouldn’t have had the time to get her so I went for it.” She spoke with a small but worn down smile.
James placed his hand on her shoulder and motions to where he is pointing. The little girl is seen being cared for by the paramedics while her mother is hugging her. James smiles a little and hands her a water bottle. “I’m just glad your okay. You did a good job. You saved that little girl’s life.”
Elsa takes the water bottle, and smiles as she takes a drink from it. “I think I need some work on working in heated situations.” She jokes. It did make her happy beyond belief to see the little girl safe.
James nods in response until he sees the little girl approaching them with her mother by her side. The little girl gives Elsa a big hug. “Thank you for saving me.”
The mother nods as she also thanks Elsa. “Thank you for saving my baby girl. I owe you so much.”
She looked in surprise at the little girl and the assumed mother approaching her. Elsa kneels down and hugs the girl in return. “It needed to be done. Nothing more then that” she said sweetly. “Of course ma’am, and you don’t owe me anything. I wish there was something I could do to help you and your family more” she speaks. Knowing if she were out and about as queen she could easily have fixed it and as this common citizen she’d hold off on offering monetary things to fix it.
The mother though shook her head in response. “We’ll be fine. You’ve done enough for us for saving my daughter’s life. Thank you so much.”
The daughter breaks the hug and smiles at Elsa. “Thank you for saving me.”
The daughter goes back to her mother and the two go to meet with the other tenants of the building. James helps Elsa up as a paramedic goes to check on them.
“You did an amazing job,” said James who is proud of Elsa.
“It’s really no big deal. You guys just stay safe” she said sweetly and waved goodbye to them.
A seemingly strange man stood being the police tape and looked at James and the mysterious brunette. Knowing well who James was but the women was another thing entirely. He zoomed his camera in and snapped a shot of the pair. And when he looked at the image he realized a strange resemblance to the Queen of Arendelle. And he smirked.
The paramedic tells Elsa she’ll need to rest up and drink plenty of water. James helps her up when he notices some news reporters in the area. Including some taking pictures. “I think it’s time we go. Don’t want anyone trying to figure out who you are if we stay too long.”
Elsa looks up at him, nodding in agreement. “Let’s get going then. We still have lots to do today.” She says and stands as Hames helps her. She turns so her face is turned away from the reporters. “Maybe we need to not head back to the tower yet. It’ll help keep them off our tails. Though I think they already know who you are” she said up to him and then back at the people in the crowd.
