James turns to Elsa and nods in response before focusing on the road. “New York is a very busy city. Millions of people live here and all from different parts of the world. All of different religion and speak different languages. A good place to live and where people feel if they make it here they can make it anywhere.”
“It’s definitely not the Swiss chocolate I’m used to but it’s still almost as good.” She said before taking another bite of the brownie and ice cream together. It melted in her mouth the sweetness of it all bringing sweet childhood memories to her from when her and Anna has been close.
James is glad to see she is enjoying her food s he finishes with his desert. So far things are going well, which is how he wanted it. No crimes going on and no trouble. Just him and Elsa spending time together.
“So, where do you want to go next? We can go anywhere you want and the night is young.”
“Well I don’t really know of anywhere. So I suppose maybe there’s somewhere you have in mind?” She asked Hames as they left the restaurant. “Thank you for dinner by the way” She added
James nods in response before he took her in the car and thinks of a good place they can go. He drives her to Central Park where he knew it would be a good place to go out for a nice walk. Once he parked he begins taking her around the park. There are some people around, but not as many as earlier.
“I used to love coming here a lot. Usually for my morning runs, which a lot of joggers didn’t like since I kept passing them so many times.”
Elsa walked next to him happily listening to him as he talked. She laughed a bit. “So do you still live here? In New York I mean…..I never really asked.” She spoke and turned her head to look up at him. Observing him, his features.
James shook his head in response. “I only live here when the team needs me. I actually moved outside of the city. In a small town where I help with anything they need. Cutting wood, repairing their vehicles, their power, build homes, and helping law enforcement. Its nice and quiet although Abby thinks its rather boring, but then again she is a city girl.”
“Well I can respect going out and helping with the town and community. I know I try my best to do the same since coming out about my powers.” She replied. “Abby must follow in her father’s footsteps….a little” she laughed before continuing “Do many people know you’re Captain America?” She asked.
“Some of the elderly do know, but the rest are unaware. Not that I hide my identity much when I fight though,” said James who knew his helmet didn’t hide much of his identity. “I don’t mind if they do though. Abby is the same who is a lot like her dad, but she does take great care not to tell people where she lives like her dad did.”
“It’s important to stay safe. To be a bit protective” she pointed out. She looked around the park and watched as nature took its hold on their small little world. Blowing in the breeze and seeing the other people interacting was so peaceful.
“True, but don’t be too overprotective,” said James knowing that if a parent or sibling is too overprotective they will make the other angry. Lesson learned with what Abigail told him. “Still, you have shown you are capable of holding your own. I’m sure your sister is the same?”
“I don’t think she’d let me be overprotective.” Elsa jokes. “She’s 19 now……and she’s figuring herself out. She doesn’t necessarily need me for that. But we are still close now.” She explained to James with a small subtle smile.
“I am glad to hear that,” said James who is glad their sisterhood is still strong despite what they both went through. “Well, you have us to help you all too. If you ever need it we’ll be there to help you both out.”
She takes his hand and squeezes it briefly, “thank you James. I don’t know what I would’ve done had you not been there….” she then tried to correct herself, “….I mean and of course the others too. Luna and Kymera deserve thanks too” She said to him
A part of James felt he knew what she meant, but decided not to try going into it. He just kept holding her hand and leads her to a nearby carriage, which the owner was renting. “Would you like to go on a little ride around the park? It is pretty nice riding through the whole park, especially when it snows,” even though he knows it won’t snow for another few weeks.
“Oh really? Well I would be happy to take a ride.” She said and steps onto the side step of the carriage and then slides inside and sits down. She looked back over to James.
James pays the driver and soon joins Elsa. He sits down next to her as the man begins driving them around the park. With his two horses pulling on the carriage. James sat close to Elsa as they begin passing by some of the people who are in the other parts of the park.
Some are couples who are spending time with their better half and some spending time with their families.
Elsa watched the people quietly but her focus intense almost. She could see little kids running and laughing with their parents. A couple on a trail in passing walks their dog happily. And sighs out as she watches next to James.
James was enjoying the ride through the park and hopes Elsa is enjoying it too. Until he hears her sigh turns to her. “Everything okay? Something on your mind?”
“Just strange to be out and no one NO ONE knows me….” she said with a small smile and turned to look at him. Her eyes meeting his. One hand was holding the tail of her braid.
James wasn’t surprised by this. Thanks to the disguise she is able to blend in so easily. So that no one will know who she is and can be one of the people. Just be a normal citizen without worrying about any problems.
“I’m sure this is all new to you since you have a recognizable face, but since you are wearing the disguise you can blend in. Feel like one of the people and not worry about anything royalty related.”
“I mean it’s that but I spent so much time inside…..for so long. To be out it’s so different” she said with mild excitement. “I don’t go out and do things like eat wherever or see whatever. As both a royal and as being more comfortable being home.
James figured as much since she is the ruler of a kingdom. Even world leaders don’t get to have any fun. They are always working and spending not a lot of time like a normal person. Didn’t mean though he didn’t feel bad for her.
“I’m sure you wish you could go out and spend time with your sister. Not as the royal sisters, but like everyone else and have fun?”
(I’m sorry it took so long I guess my response didn’t go through)
Elsa looked at James, “I’m just happy to have Anna. I think she’d wish sometimes want to not be royal. I know it’s hard to be but you know it’s the life we live.” She explained to him.
James understood and knew being a royal may be difficult, but it doesn’t always have to be that way. “You know if you guys ever need help we can help make things less hard for you and your sister. If you need anything we can help out.”
“I know. And I thank you guys deeply and if you need help from me or my sister or Arendelle you have it. In full” she spoke with a small smile on her lips.
James nods knowing she meant every word, but he didn’t want to risk her or her people for them since they are here to protect the people. Suddenly the horses stop and the driver informs them of a nearby fire at a building. James sees it and leaps out of the carriage. “I’ll be right back,” he said as he rushes off to go help the people.
Elsa stands in the carriage to follow him till he tells her he’ll be back shortly. But as soon as he’s out of sight she gives an extra $50 to the carriage driver and thanked him before she ran to follow him. She rounded the corner of the building she spotted James run by.
She wasn’t sure what she’d be able to do to help but she wasn’t gonna sit around either.
James rushes into the building and goes in to help as many people out of the fire as he can. Unaware there is a little girl at the very top of the building yelling for help. Due to the flames and commotion the people couldn’t hear her. The little girl though screamed for help and hopes someone will see her as she goes back into the room she is in when the smoke began filling her room.
Elsa watched in horror at the building. Moments only pass before she here’s the yelling. She looked to see the waving hands of a little girl. She notices James still helping other and without thinking deeply she sprints passed James and into the building.
She blasts ice in front of her to chill the air some as she scaled up the stairs. Jumping over holes and dodging ashes. She within a couple minutes makes it to the top floor. She used her ice and shatters the door to the apartment and heads in.
“HELLO?! I HEARD YOU IM HERE TO HELP!” She yells out as she goes searching through smoke filling rooms. She blasts Ice into the room entryways to gain visibility and quickly works to the corner of the apartment she chills some of the fire and smoke and can heat the girl in the farthest room she begins to enter. “Hello? My name is EL! I’m here to help, I’m gonna get you out of here” she says to the girl. Her arms open for the girl to come to her.
