Marshall ran a hand through his hair as he sighed deeply. He tried the best he could to concentrate and attempt to remember what it was he studied.
His band depended on him and he if didnt catch up he could be kicked out.
He couldn’t work under pressureThe teacher of Marshall’s class passed out papers for the test. Looking at Marshall. He leaned over, “talk to me after class Mr. Abadeer” he said softly.
Then went back to his desk.
Making a call from the old phone on his desk.
Jinxs teacher heard ringing and picked up the phone the two muttered back and forth and then hung up. The teacher stood and walked back to Jinx tapping on her shoulder.
The red head pulled out her head phones “I need you to help a student with his studies. Would you be willing to help? Especially since you’re so far ahead in your classes?” She asked the velvet red head.
Jinx sighed and nodded, “sure. I’m assuming after school?” She asked. The teacher nodded and smiled. “In the library don’t forget” she added before going back to before.
Jinx nodded and sighed. At least jinx she’d be out away from home. She thought.Marshall immediately began to panic as he went through the questions on the paper.
He tried to will away the members of his band so that he could concentrate on the test.
He heard the teacher mumbling on the phone but tuned him out.
He had hoped that the teacher didn’t think he was cheating again and that was why he wanted to see Marshall after class.
He sighed and answered the questions he was sure he knew.Jinx felt class go by quickly.
She had put aside the thought of Marshall and Art class. And was thinking about who might possibly be the person she’d be tutoring.
She didn’t worry much. Although that wasn’t the best idea.
She listened to her music peeking up from her book as there was two minutes left of class and jinx started to pack her things away. After the tests were collected Marshall sighed and gathered his things.
He watched as the rest of the students poured out and he walked up timidly to the teacher as he sat at his desk.
“You wanted to see me sir?”The teacher heard the bell ring and he looked as Marshall walked up to him. The stuttering feet out of the room.
“Yes, I know me and your other teachers have talked and concluded. You and your band mates will be banned from being the homecoming performance. This year, if you don’t get your grades up and two, actually show up to class like everyone else. You can either do that and take tutoring lessons. Or you’ll probably fail this, your senior, year. And no more performing here at the school or for any school events.” He explained.Marshall winced at his teachers words. He knew it was coming but it had sounded so much more worse in person
Marshall didn’t like the idea of tutoring, but he didn’t like the idea of not being able to perform more.
“Fine… I’ll do the tutoring session and show up to class.” He grumbled.
“Just tell me what I have to do.”The teacher gave a small smile. “Show up in the library at 3:15 at the small table in the back of the library. Your tutor will be there waiting. Now go along, get to your next class. I’m not writing you a pass for art” he said and shooed Marshall off.
Marshall sighed and left the classroom and ventured to his art class.
Jinx had left her class and found herself walking a yard or so behind Marshall. Suddenly her biggest fear returned and she cursed under her breath. She’d hoped he’d spare some mercy on her.
But out of the years she knew him he only spared her once.
She pulled her bag close and ducked her head.
As he entered in the class, she quietly and hesitantly entered behind him.
Twirling her braid in her hands as she only occasionally checked on Marshall’s position hoping he wouldn’t look at her
